Who We Are

Salt Water Murris Quandamooka is an Aboriginal owned and led community art centre and gallery based on Minjerribah, within Quandamooka Country in South East Queensland. Governed by Aboriginal Board members who are descendants of the three clans of Quandamooka Country, SWMQ supports authentic Aboriginal art through ethical practice, cultural integrity, and strong connection to Country, community, and artists.

Cultural Governance

SWMQ is governed by a Board of Aboriginal members who are descendants of the three clans of Quandamooka Country.

Board members Dr Sandra Delaney, Megan Law, Christopher Morgan, Shara Delaney, and Samuel Law provide culturally informed leadership grounded in community authority. Their governance ensures the organisation operates with integrity, accountability, and in accordance with Quandamooka cultural protocols, maintaining strong connections to Country, Elders, and community.

What We Do

SWMQ supports the creation, exhibition, and sale of authentic Aboriginal artworks across visual arts, textiles, and contemporary practice.

We provide opportunities for artists to participate in exhibitions, markets, and cultural programs while strengthening cultural knowledge, storytelling, and connection to Country.

Ethical Practice

SWMQ is committed to ethical and transparent practices in the sale and promotion of Aboriginal art.

The organisation is currently progressing membership with the Indigenous Art Code and operates in alignment with its principles, including fairness, transparency, and respectful engagement with artists.

Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP)

SWMQ is committed to protecting Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property.

All artworks, designs, stories, and cultural knowledge remain the property of the artist and/or the Quandamooka people. Any use, reproduction, or licensing is undertaken only with the free, prior, and informed consent of the artist and in accordance with cultural protocols.
